Underage Nudie Dance Protected

HAMBURG, Iowa, August 7, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Nude dancing in strip clubs is "artistic" even when performed by an under age girl, according to an Iowa judge in a ruling issued late last month. Fremont County Judge Timothy O'Grady called the strip club a "theatre" and agreed with the club owner who argued that the state's indecency law does not apply to "theater, concert hall, art center, museum, or similar establishments."

Hamburg, Iowa, a town of 1,200 just across the Missouri River from Nebraska, has one strip club. After the 17-year-old niece of the local Sherriff, Steven MacDonald, did a nude dance at the club, the owner, Clarence Judy, was charged with violating Iowa's public indecent exposure law.

In a one-day trial on July 17, Judy's lawyer said, "Dance has been considered one of the arts, as is sculpture, painting and anything else like that. What Clarence has is a club where people can come and perform."

Fremont County Attorney Margaret Johnson responded that the case was straightforward: an underage girl danced naked at the club, which is illegal. - Life Site News

Would it be bad if I said I personally support this? Ah ha, only kidding. But really...this happened in Iowa. Who cares about Iowa?

Mayor Burns Down Former Strip Club

LAVONIA, August 5, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Town residents in Lavonia, Georgia cheered and gave a standing ovation to Mayor Ralph Owens this week as the town purchased a strip joint in order to shut it down. The strip club, Café Risque opened in 2001 after representing itself under false pretenses to the city authorities. Owner Jerry Sullivan presented his business as a family restaurant.

The city sued Sullivan five times but the courts ruled in his favor, accepting arguments that the lewd dancing was a constitutionally protected form of expression. After the fact, the city passed an ordinance outlawing such clubs, but was powerless to shut down Café Risque.

Sullivan passed away in 2006 but managers kept the business running. Thinking they were selling it to a company which would continue the lewd business, the managers found out only when it was too late that the new owner was in fact a third party through whom the city was working to purchase the property.

The deal finalized Tuesday and city residents accompanied the mayor to the site where the graphic signage for the strip club was torn off the building and burned.

Anybody can buy property and do whatever they want with it. Owens just happened to have done the right thing.

On a side note: would Mumbles Menino ever do such a thing? Never.

Strippers Show Up to Kids' Golf Tourney

BROOMFIELD, Colo. - A close encounter between flirtatious strippers and children playing in a golf tournament was the result of "mistiming," golf course officials said Tuesday as they apologized to parents.

The scantily clad women spilled out of a limousine as the youngsters were finishing their game as part of the Gold Crown Junior Golf Association tournament Monday. Tournament officials said they were not warned the strippers would be arriving before the end of the game for children, who ranged in age from 7 to 12.

The women were part of Shotgun Willie's Charity Golf Tournament to benefit breast cancer. The strippers were to serve as caddies to patron's of the strip club. A club manager said there were 144 golfers and 70 caddies.

A woman told KUSA-TV the event drew curious questions from her children, who asked her why the men joining the strippers had water guns and why the women wore only their underwear. KUSA said the woman declined to be identified.

Eagle Trace Golf Course manager Evelyn Koch says the women were forbidden from going topless and that they were just flirting with the men.

"I cannot tell you the girls didn't flash out there but it wasn't a free-for-all," Koch said. She said the Shotgun Willie's crowd and the young golfers had to share the same clubhouse while the children had lunch because their tournament started later than expected.

Still, she said the Broomfield golf course was sorry children were present when the strippers arrived.

Golf course instructor Dustin Moser said some of the strippers "got a little out of control" but that it happened after the children had left.
Lucky kids. I wish I was there.
