Sizing Up The Candidates Part 6

Poverty/Health Care/Jobs
-------------------------------

My Take: Everyone deserves to be paid a fair and just wage for their work. The minimum wage should gradually be raised. Social Welfare Programs aren't exactly known to promote hard work and independence. They generally should not be increased. Health care should be made more affordable (available to everyone), but the government shouldn't fund the system. The idea of subsidiarity works great here: leave matters to the smallest competent authority.

Mike Huckabee - Republican -
90%

Raise Minimum Wage Maybe
Universal Health Care
No

Increase Social Welfare Programs

No

Ron Paul - Republican - 70%
Raise Minimum Wage No
Universal Health Care
No
Increase Social Welfare Programs No

As much as I love Ron Paul as a candidate, he is starting to lose some ground. His almost totally laissez faire economic policies don't impress me. This is going to be an extremely tight race. Stay tuned.

  1. Seriously, you are looking only at two candidates that don't matter. It'll be obama vs mccain. get with the times, fiend.

  2. I'm going to assume you forgot the "r" in friend. And don't forget about Hillary, she still has a shot. But yeah, seems kind of foolish to pick between two candidates who have no shot.

  3. Does it know really? We are called to vote for the best candidate, not the one that the media or the general public is in love with.

  4. Yes, and Huckabee is a holy roller, he does not think on the basis of the 21st century, and Ron Paul is just another big executive that is not looking out for the general welfare of everyone. And no, fiend is a word. I don't think Hillary really has a shot, mainly because of her poor attitude, which is her ultimate downfall.

  5. Glen...you know McCain's already won, right? It's a mathematical impossibility that Paul or Huckabee can get the nomination. McCain has the delegates. The Republican race is over.

  6. Paul is going to run as a Libertarian. Huckabee is a worthy write-in.

  7. Paul announced he ain't running in a third-party. Oh, and for future comments, anonymous, let's not call our writers fiends. Thanks.

  8. How is Paul a big executive? He delivers babies! Social welfare programs don't work so he is doing everyone a favor by opposing them. And thank you, I am a fiend -- highly skilled --

Wow, that is an absolute tragedy that Paul isn't running as a third party. I guess that leaves Huck.

  9. Glen, when has a write-in or third party ever won in America? We have a bipartisan system. That's just how it goes. And like Ben said, mathematically, even if Huckabee wins 100% of the vote in each remaining primary, he can't get enough delegates to win. Paul has 14 delegates. He's a joke.

  10. Glen, you have not provided factual evidence as to why these canidates are good, only subjectivity. Huckabee doesn't believe in things that are scientifically proven that are real, therefore, he is crazy.
