Genre: Baroque pop/Awesomeness
Pet Sounds shows what heights music can reach. Brian Wilson, tired of writing songs about surfing, poured his heart and soul into this album. He assembled the best musicians he could get to help make it: the Wrecking Crew, the best session musicians in LA and the Beach Boys, the best vocal group in America. I can't pick favorite tracks...they're all great! The somewhat weak spots are "Sloop John B" and "Caroline, No", but this is nit-picking. Pet Sounds is the ultimate labor of love, and remains the Beach Boys' crowning achievement.

****3/4 out of five
