KHARTOUM (AFP) — Fighting has erupted between Sudanese troops and the only Darfur rebel group to have signed a 2006 peace accord, the UN said Wednesday, after the rebels accused Khartoum of attacking a town they control.
The UN Mission in Sudan said exchanges of fire took place on Tuesday between the Sudan Liberation Army faction of Minni Minawi and the Sudanese army near the town of Tawila.
